This is a handsome vintage Navajo sterling silver necklace featuring a bold bead strand and a substantial, well-crafted pendant set with Blue Gem turquoise (from the Blue Gem mine in Nevada) is prized for its rich, bright blue-green color and clean appearance. The necklace consists of large, handcrafted sterling silver beads in an alternating pattern: Elongated spindle/melon-shaped beads, and smaller round āNavajo pearlā beads clustered in pairs or small groups between the larger beads, creating rhythm and movement.
The beads show nice hand-hammered texture and a warm, natural patina typical of mid-to-late 20th century Navajo work.Ā The focal point is a large, sculptural silver pendant with excellent presence ā a smooth, oval Blue Gem turquoise cabochon sits prominently in the center above a graceful, curved āfleur-de-lisā or stylized naja-inspired terminals giving the pendant beautiful balance and flow. The pendant is well-constructed with heavy-gauge silver and shows traditional Navajo silversmithing techniques. The combination of the long silver beads and the turquoise-centered pendant makes it a powerful wearable statement, equally suitable for both everyday wear and special occasions.
