This striking sterling silver cuff bracelet featuring a channel inlay of natural Morenci turquoise was handmade by Gabriel Abrums, a master jeweler and co-owner of Chimayo Trading Del Norte in Ranchos de Taos, New Mexico. The bracelet has a classic wide cuff style with an open back for easy wear and adjustability. It features a continuous band of channel inlay, a technique where precisely cut pieces of turquoise are fitted into channels cut into the sterling silver and secured. The inlay consists of numerous small, irregularly shaped (but closely fitted) turquoise tiles forming a mosaic-like surface across the top and sides. The silver edges are smoothly finished, with a substantial, polished sterling silver interior that shows a nice reflective sheen and slight patina in places. Morenci turquoise is highly prized variety from the historic Morenci mine in Arizona (now largely depleted, making natural stones like this increasingly valuable and collectible), and renowned for its intense color and durability, often considered among the top American turquoises alongside Kingman or Bisbee. This piece exemplifies Southwestern jewelry at its best: bold yet elegant, with the dramatic Morenci turquoise taking center stage against the clean sterling silver setting. The channel inlay gives it a textured, mosaic quality that catches light beautifully, making the colors pop. It’s a wearable work of art, substantial in weight and presence while remaining comfortable as a daily or statement cuff.
