Description
“The story of the Jicarilla Apache Maiden is deeply intertwined with the tribe’s creation and emergence traditions. A Jicarilla girl is often referred to as “white shell woman”, and often plays a role in connecting the divine powers of the sun and moon with mankind. In ceremony the maiden is symbolic of the dual balance of the sun and moon, including seasonal and harvest ceremonies to insure and maintain the harmony between nature, earth and the community.”
