Lee Lujan

Drumming is the heartbeat of the culture of native people, an integral part of every procession, every sacred ceremony. Acquiring one of these instruments of the Great Spirit is an act of affirmation, a bridge to join past and present, and an opportunity to share in the long held tradition of Pueblo people.

From his studio at the base of Taos Mountain, he creates each unique drum from just the right cottonwood trunk, hollowed with patience and precision for the purest sound vibration. He covers it with hide processed by his strong, skilled hands.
