The Poetry of Thick Paint
The art of Brad Teare has been featured in American Artist and Gulf Connoisseur (Dubai) magazines and in diverse national and international venues such as the LA Art Show, The Forbes Galleries in New York City, The Parsons School of Design, Paris, France, the American Embassy in Warsaw, Poland, as well as The Salmagundi Club in New York City. He spent the nineties illustrating for publishers such as The New York Times and Random House, where he did book covers for authors such as James Michener, Alice Walker, and Anne Tyler. He grew up in Kansas revering artists such as Rockwell Kent and Lynd Ward and worked summers at a small letter-press print shop.
At age 18, Teare traveled to Northern Idaho and built a log cabin in the foothills of Moscow Mountain where he spent a year painting in watercolor. He studied Fine Art at the University of Idaho and illustration at Utah State University. After an illustration career in New York City he now lives in Providence, Utah.
