Vintage Navajo concho belt with sterling silver, coral and natural Morenci turquoise (from the historic Morenci Mine in Arizona closed decades ago) is prized for its rich sky-to-robin’s-egg blue tones, with a distinctive matrix of fine quartz veins or pyrite flecks that add a subtle silvery or web-like character.
The standout design element is the sunburst or flower motif on each concho: radiating stamped lines create a dramatic, spoked, petal-like pattern that evokes a blooming flower or exploding sun, a popular and iconic Navajo silversmithing style. The silver is deeply hand-stamped and chased (filed or textured) for high contrast, with a blackened or oxidized background that makes the raised lines pop. This gives the pieces a bold, graphic, and somewhat Art Deco-influenced look common in mid-century Navajo jewelry.
