2002

Framed: 33″ x 45″

REMARKS: This lithograph, in an edition of fifty impressions, was drawn on Tamarind Institute stone number 22. My Drawing on this stone was begun on April 9th at 13:15 and was completed on April 15th at 10:10. The image was derived of ancient buffalo skull (Bison, bison) retrieved from Missouri Riverbottom, near Pierre, South Dakota by scuba divers. The skull is in collection of Lawrence L. Piersol, patron for this lithographic venture. Four trial proofs were pulled by master printer, Bill Lagatutta and the bon a tirer was chosen from these on April 16th. Only one artist’s proof exists, otherwise, besides the cancellation proof, out side main edition and Tamarind impressions of three. “anpetu”, the title of this lithograph, is Native American word of the Lakota Language, having meaning of the very first light of dawning, before sunrise on the plains.
