Manuel Hoyungowa
Manuel Hoyungowa (also spelled Hoyungwa, 1953–2011), from Hotevilla on Third Mesa, was a respected Hopi silversmith active since the 1970s. He learned from masters like his uncle Preston Monongye and at the Institute of American Indian Arts, becoming known for intricate overlay work on jewelry including belts, buckles, bracelets, and pendants. His hallmark is often the “Strong Rain” symbol (a rain-related motif), and his pieces are collectible for their authentic cultural storytelling and high craftsmanship.
