Navajo-Diné jeweler Herbert Taylor was a master award-winning silversmith who’s outstanding silversmith work is now hard to find. All of his work is fabricated and stamped by hand using traditional techniques making him one of the finest silversmiths of his time. Taylor was a recipient of many awards at the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Heard Museum in Phoenix, AZ, and the Gallup Ceremonial, including Best of Show.

Taylor was a talented Navajo (Diné) silversmith and jeweler known for his high-quality handmade jewelry, particularly in sterling silver, with later work incorporating gold. Taylor began learning silversmithing in the summer of 1972, initially as a practical way to earn money for new tires for his Oldsmobile Delta 88. His sister helped him get started. He crafted his first bracelet with five turquoise cabochons then sold it, and used the proceeds for the tires… this sparked a lifelong career.
