Giovanna Paponetti

“Every brushstroke brings me closer to my quest to discover old instincts and how I relate to the world around me. As I capture the spirit of my models on canvas, they bring life to me as well. It is a union of mutual respect and gives me the courage to fly.”

In 2012, Giovanna flew to Italy to share her book Kateri, Native American Saint. She was welcomed to Trasacco, in the Abruzzi mountains where her grandfather’s family is from and she visited Celano and the San Giovanni Church where she traced her family back for many generations. Later, she would have an audience with the Pope and show him the painting of Kateri, the first Native American saint.
