Charlie John was born in Winslow, Arizona 1954. His grandmother prompted him to continue in his father‘s footsteps who was a master silversmith, Howard John. Charlie John started jewelry making in 1968 incorporating a mixture Hopi and Navajo designs using only natural high-grade turquoise.
