William Martin is a renowned Taos painter whose work is in demand throughout the Western United States, and Chimayo Trading is fortunate to represent him. His collectors appreciate the evocative scenes he creates, the vivacity of his palette, his masterful painting skills and sensitive interpretations.

What his collectors may not know about William Martin may surprise them! A creator in his heart and soul, he is not limited to paint and canvas, landscapes, still lifes, portraits or scenes that are so beautiful they will make you cry. He makes works of art, but he also loves a mechanical challenge and once refurbished a KTM motorcycle, completely rebuilding the engine though he had never done anything like that before.

William also plays a mean blues harp, frequently sitting in with friends’ bands. His love for music has led him to building in-demand amplifiers and electric guitars, and teaching himself to play. These are the forays of a true cultural creative, a man who is a “maker” and for whom learning is an art form.
