Raé Miller
Raé Miller is an American abstract artist living in Taos, NM. Her work is influenced by eleven years in San Miguel de Allende, a few years north of the Arctic Circle in Norway, and many US locations, particularly in the Southwest. Her fascination with light and translucency, and using layering and color to express her sense of dislocation and wonder, has been a recurring theme in her paintings. While she doesn’t limit herself to the use of a specific medium, Raé finds working with encaustic and cold wax most exciting for their qualities of translucence and texture.
Her paintings and monotypes have been shown internationally in galleries and public installations. In 2016, her solo exhibition “El Peso de la Luz/The Weight fo Light” was featured at El Centro Cultural El Nigromante de Bellas Artes in San Miguel de Allende, MX.
With more than twenty years experience painting with encaustic, and having taught for ten years in her San Miguel de Allende studio, Raé is also an occasional workshop instructor and presenter at the International Encaustic Conference in Provincetown, MA.
Raé and her husband, William Martin, share a studio on Kit Carson Road, in Taos.
