Vidal Aguilar

As noted by Gregory Schaaf in his book, Southern Pueblo Pottery, Vidal Aguilar makes some of the largest ollas at Santo Domingo Pueblo. The Aguilar family have been known for their large ollas and storage jars for generations. Vidal’s pots are hand coiled, painted with mineral and vegetal pigments, and pit fired in the traditional manner.

Vidal’s designs include deer, antelope, and big horn sheep. He also paints attractive flowers and birds. He’s found inspiration by looking at 19th and 20th century designs.
