Dawn Antelope (1943-present)

“Clay has molded my own life, my own personality.” says Dawn Antelope. And he’s a man at peace with himself. He learned the skill from his mother. Rafaelita Espinoza, in the tradition of Pueblo women, made the pots and vessels needed by the family. She also sold the wares to visitors at Taos Pueblo. Dawn Antelope continues to follow the Taos Pueblo traditional ways of creating hand coiled pottery made of the beautiful micaceous clay for which his clan is known.
